Rounding to 5 cents in CHF
Under Settings > Accounting > Currency, you can adjust the rounding for the CHF currency in your customer documents such as quotes, orders, credits, and invoices. This setting affects how the amounts on the documents are rounded.
How rounding works
- When rounding is enabled, amounts are rounded to the nearest 5 cents. This means that the final amounts are always adjusted to the nearest 5-cent mark.
- When rounding is disabled, rounding is done to the nearest 0.01 CHF, or to the nearest cent without further adjustment.
This setting only applies to the CHF currency. Imported customer documents are always rounded to the nearest 0.01 CHF, regardless of this setting.
Benefits of rounding to 5 cents
- Rounding to 5 cents corresponds to the usual cash rounding in Switzerland, as coins under 5 cents are no longer in circulation.
- This avoids discrepancies in cash payments and makes handling in payment transactions easier.
- The customer invoices look more professional and comply with legal requirements.
Notes and tips
- Keep in mind that this rounding only applies to documents in CHF. Other currencies are not affected.
- Imported invoices and documents that are taken over from other systems retain their exact rounding of 0.01 CHF.
- The rounding setting affects all customer documents, including quotes, orders, and credits, not just invoices.
- If you change the rounding, check your existing documents and inform your accounting department to ensure correct booking.
With this setting, you ensure that your customer documents meet Swiss currency standards and that the amounts are correctly rounded.
